What's up sparkles. How are you doing today?
Dual Language?
SEO rank?
I need to clarify one thing, just in case anyone wondering why my blog sometimes are written in English, sometimes in Malay. I have thought about it long. I would love to make this blog into a full English blog, but I know damn well that competing SEO rank with other English blogs out there are almost impossible. Furthermore, my target audience is mainly Malaysian. (Although of course readers from any other countries are more than welcome to read this humble blog of mine.)
So, whenever I wrote blog posts in Malay, it is because I am trying to compete my keywords in SEO regarding the topic in hand.
On the contrary, If I post an English piece, more often than not I am just writing whatever my heart's desire and anything that comes to mind without abiding the rules of SEO. This is usually written for my personal blog post.
Is this a bad idea? I hope not.
This SEO problem just irks me.
Does it frustrates you too that while googling stuffs in English, all the foreign websites will come up to you on the first page?? Why can't we choose to select what region the websites are from?
On numerous occasions, I long to read insights from Malaysian to say things about Malaysia that is written in English. English is our national language too, albeit being the second.
But somehow probably no one in that massive Google company understands this problem. If they do, they probably would already be doing something about it by now.
Tell me how should one write a blog in English about Malaysia from Malaysian perspective without having to fiercely compete with other major foreign websites??
Google really needs to step up their game. I believe this is a major gap in the market. Maybe they need to give us options or buttons so we can choose whether the search results come from local or foreign, or any other country.
Just like how news works. If we typed in 'news' in google search, result will come from mostly local news but written in English since the keyword is English.
But wait till you type in symptoms of illness, all sorts of foreign website will come up.
Sometimes you just want your local doctors to explains things to you since more often than not, our illness are not the same with foreigners. You get me??
Like symptoms of 'angin' or bloated/ gassy.
Foreigners don't have the same built like us, they also don't have the same sickness and medicine like us. American don't even know what panadol is for god sake and we never even touch aspirin our whole life.
Can you understand my frustrations? Am I the only one like this or do any of you feel the same way too? I really would love to know your thoughts.
So until then, using both Malay and English is my way of attenuating this problem, despite it being far from perfect, I have no other way. So please bear the messiness that is this blog.
Ops. I originally just wanted to clarify things, but this has become somewhat of a rant? Sorry. But I have no excuse. It is what it is.
Until next time, I see you when I see you sparkles.
Love,
Dila.
